Under a years wait
Orthopaedics
October 17, 2023
My doctor referred me for a knee replacement and I've waited for under a year for the operation which has been much quicker than I thought. I didn't need to stay long in hospital and I was very happy . It must be very frustrating for staff when equipment doesn't work on the wards. equipment I needed was all provided by Medequip before I even got home and I've had a follow up phone call and will then have an appointment with the consultant in September.
Great heart care

Really amazing care provided after being transferred from Papworth. The care staff provided on the ward was great.
Very supportive
Oncology

Oncology staff have been very supportive but phone calls are very to the point about issues. My consultant face to face is a nice guy and honest which I like, it allows honest conversations about everything that is going on.

I had a kidney removed
Urology
October 6, 2023
After having been in a few times with abcess, sepsis and kidney problem, I came in for kidney removal. Every visit I made, the staff were top class, I still cannot believe the dedication of everyone. Trying to thank them all is impossible. One man (still don't know his name) was so kind and I wish I could say thank you. Well done and thank you WSH.
Very good pain clinic
Pain management

The pain clinic and staff are very good. They are always good and explain everything very well. I do have injections which work for a while but the benefits do wear off over time.
Very impressed
Accident and emergency services
October 4, 2023
I had a fall and called an ambulance and was taken straight to A&E where the treatment and care I received was second to none, they couldn't have done more for me. While I was waiting for xrays they checked on me and the staff were wonderful, even bringing me food and drink at lunch time.
symptoms flare up
September 28, 2023
Asthma symptoms flare up for my daughter when she has a cold, she was initially diagnosed by our GP. The medication she is on seems to be working ok.
Training for parents needed
September 28, 2023
I took my son (2 years old) to the GP initially with wheezing symptoms and they gave him the brown and then the blue was for active wheezing.
I do feel that it would be helpful if training was given to me and my husband on using the spacer, as my son is very young and does not like the spacer, he doesnt understand it is to help him, so some face to face training to show us how we do this especially when he is screaming and wriggling, would be very useful because I am concerned that he is not actually taking all of the medication he needs, he is obviously getting some as there is an improvement. Even a Youtube instructional video would have been helpful to us. Also the spacer requires a weekly thorough clean which was never pointed out to me.

Face to face education needed
September 28, 2023
My daughter was admitted to hospital and they kept her in for an overnight stay, she has coughing mainly plus some other symptoms related, it was the A & E staff that made the diagnosis for treatment. The asthma nurses at the GP surgery contact us on the phone, my preference would be a face to face check rather than over the phone. We have an asthma plan but we want a new one so hopefully I will be able to discuss that at my appointment today. I have felt that the process has been rather slow and I do feel that the education for parents aspect is missing, as I am not 100% sure when she needs the medication. We are only given 1 spacer per year but I think it would be good to be given two so that there is a spare back up one. I do have to say that the staff in the childrens outpatients clinic at this hospital always give a warm welcome to us.
