Good labour experience
Maternity
August 9, 2023
I had one midwife throughout my labour and was well supported after the birth with feeding my daughter as she struggled to latch on well but the staff were great and I was very grateful for the support.
Very good
August 9, 2023
Appointments have been quick to get and I was seen with in 3 weeks and in a further 2 weeks I'd had two procedures which was really good. I've been so happy with how staff have explained the next steps and what's happening and they have stayed in regular contact with me.
Staff need training
Cancer services
August 9, 2023
As a same sex couple and partner of someone undergoing cancer treatment I am constantly asked who I am to justify why I am at appointments. Consultants and ward staff ask questions that if I was a man wouldn't even be asked. One doctor wouldn't even talk with me and ignored the fact I was even there. Another wouldn't then look at my partner when they were giving really bad news, they really haven't been sensitive at all and appear to need basic training. Staff have also given poor advice after seeing the breast cancer diagnosis in isolation and didn't take in to consideration how other areas had been affected so furhter damage has been caused.
Felt dismissed all along
August 9, 2023
I've had long waits to get scans and it has really delayed and drawn out the diagnosis and treatment. I've then had a 34 day wait to start treatment and have the operation I needed. This was followed by a furhter 4 week wait for oncology. I have little confidence in the system and feel I've been dismissed all along.
Waited 10 hours to be triaged
Accident and emergency services
August 4, 2023
Even though I had been told to attend A&E by Gynaecology there seemed to be a break down in contact between the departments. I also find it outstanding as did others there that there was an inability to access a patients records even though I had been to the hospital for a procedure only days before.
Brilliant

I've had to stay on wards 6 times and each time the nurses have been brilliant and I experienced no issues during my time there.
Good experiences

I attend the rheumatology department and have always been very happy with the care and support provided by the team and the same when I've been on the medical treatment unit. But the orthopaedic clinic never runs to time and there are long waits and as you would expect A&E is very busy when I've visited.
Dementia care lacking
July 31, 2023
There wasn't enough staff on the ward to adequately support a family member with dementia. After coming in to A&E and spending 11 hours being triaged we were then told their appendix had burst. More tests followed and then we saw the surgeon. There was a feeling staff were under pressure and after pressing the buzzer you could wait a while for a response from staff. The medical care was good but the support for our family member was lacking during their stay after the operation and they were discharged 3 days later.
Access to LD nurse not easy
Various clinics
July 24, 2023
Our daughter has an up coming operation and gaining access to the LD liaison nurse hasn't been easy partly because she is now 16 and under adult services and everything has just dropped away even though her needs have not changed. I'm now unclear what is happening. Transitioning to aldult services has been a shock, paediactrics has been brilliant and so fleixible and that approach is still needed but is lacking in adult services. In effect our daughter has the same needs but is just expected to fit in to adult services. She now has to attend the main A&E rather than paediactrics which is a much better environment for her and enables staff to better treat her too.
Staff great
Audiology
July 24, 2023
Staff have always been great in audiology and they are very understanding of our daughters condition and so supportive.
