Ask My GP

May 13, 2024
Ask My GP is difficult as it asks you who you would like to see and then they give you an appointment with someone different any way but you can't say who you would rather not see. When worried about the children it's concerning how long it takes to do an Ask My GP. At times have had longer waits but they have been the same day. Once in the care is very good and I'd give five stars for this aspect as the staff are good.

Good Morning, I am really sorry to learn that you are having difficulties with using askmyGP. You are able at any time to contact the surgery and one of our Care Navigators can raise the request on your behalf. If you have a medical emergency with your children this can be highlighted on the askmyGP request, and will be triaged accordingly.

Regarding longer wait times, patients with medical emergencies are generally seen within 3 hours. For other patients we do try to offer on the day appointments, however, in the case of non-medical emergencies appointments an appointment may be offered up to 3 working days ahead. That being said, we are always looking for ways to improve our services, and your review will help us to focus on the areas where there is a sense of dissatisfaction with services that we provide. Kind regards Katie (Practice Operations Manager)

A bit up and down

May 13, 2024
My annual review has been delayed. After receiving a text message to say it was cancelled the surgery contacted me to rearrange the nurse appointment. Things have changed but it is a bit up and down. Medication requests don't get sent across to the pharmacy quickly. I received a text to say it had been sent across but the pharmacy said they hadn't received it. It's hard when you have to chase things up and you're stuck in the middle between them.

Good Morning, I am really sorry to learn of issues you have raised within your review. This is not the level of service we would expect any of our patients to receive and I sincerely apologise. I would be grateful if you could email me with the details of your medication request that had not been sent to the pharmacy so that I can look into this for you.
You can email me on combsford.dischargesummaries@nhs.net

The way the doctors speak to you is great, friendly and approachable, they are easy to talk to. When I call up to arrange appointments the reception staff ask the right questions and make sure I get to see the right person too.

Okay

The number of GPs seems to have dropped so mostly see the nurses and most issues are addressed that way but there is a feeling you can't see a GP. I've found Ask My GP better than phoning but it can sometimes feel like a long wait, 4-5 hours at times to be contacted by the surgery. Today however, I was contacted quickly to arrange the appointment.

Good morning, thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. I am sorry to learn that you feel you cannot see a GP. It is true to say that in recent years existing general practice teams have expanded to offer patients more specialised clinicians to provide services, such as a pharmacist for medication reviews, or a physiotherapist for patients presenting with musculoskeletal issues. This has allowed the GP to focus on tasks only they can deliver, whilst allowing for an improvement in patient access across the board. This has ensured that patients are seen quickly and by the right health professional for their needs. That being said, we are always looking for ways to improve our services, and your review will help us to focus on the areas where there is a sense of dissatisfaction with services that we provide. More difficult

I don't come to the surgery very often and have had some difficulty getting to see a GP easily, I would just like to speak to someone. Our neighbour who is registered blind has had more difficulty and was asked to look in the mirror to provide more information to them.

Hi

I am so sorry to hear that you have felt it has been more difficult to see a GP of late. All requests pass through the AskmyGP service and are triaged and sent to the most appropriate clinician for the medical issue reported. Please be assured that our reception team are always on hand to assist with the use of this platform and if needed you can call them on 01449 678333 to help you out with this.

I would like to say thank you for your feedback as this is useful for us to make improvements to our service.

Kind regards, Katie (Practice Operations Manager)

internet access

As a temporary patient with no internet access it's all worked well and I had a call back and the doctor was good. There was a slight mix up with medication which although took a little time to sort out has been.

All good

Ask My GP works, gets a good response and have spoken to a GP quickly and then given an appointment first thing in the morning. I find it easier to use Ask My GP rather than calling as it is simpler and easier and gets a prompt response.

Would rather see a doctor

May 13, 2024
At times it is hard to get across the right information when doing an Ask My GP submission, it is easier to just speak to a member of staff. Most appointments I've had have been telephone consultations with either a nurse or a paramedic and I would rather see someone and a doctor over a nurse or paramedic. At times it seems that there is doubling up with appointments when you see one clinician and then another for a different aspect. I was told that I would need a review in six months time but I had to contact the surgery to arrange it rather than them contacting me.

Hi,

I am so sorry to hear that you feel that the AskmyGP service isn’t appropriate in some occasions when passing over information. Should you be in this predicament again, please do call into reception and ask for one of the team to raise a request on your behalf. The reception team can also add to the consultation notes that there is extra information that you would like to discuss with the clinician.

As I hope you can appreciate, we have a multidisciplinary clinical team at the surgery who have a mixture of specialist skills and knowledge and we ensure that patients appointmets are made with the most appropriate clinician for their symptoms or needs. I understand that this may feel like there is doubling up of appointments, however, please be assured that by using all of our resources appropriately, patient wait times are significantly reduced. Unfortunately our clinics are not available and on the system for 6 months' time so in these occasions you will be asked to call back to make a follow up appointment.

Kind regards, Katie (Practice Operations Manager)

Mixed

May 13, 2024
Tried to book by phone but I ended up coming to the surgery to arrange it as I find the phone difficult. I did have an issue when a referral not being done as I had been told it was and I do try not to see one GP if possible. I've also had times when I've requested an appointment but heard nothing more from them.
