After completing an Ask My GP this morning I've had a conversation with the Emergency Care Practitioner and I was really happy with how it all went. After that I was invited in to see them which was great.

More challenging

I don't like Ask My GP as I find it is a barrier to getting seen and find it more challenging and difficult to use. I would prefer better continuity with who I see and would prefer appointments to be with a GP. When I've been offered a call back I've had to wait the day for a call back. The next patient notification sign doesn't show the room details for very long, it would be handy if it stayed up a little longer. I do feel that reception staff have been a bit more approachable lately.

Difficult to see GPs

It is difficult to see GPs and mainly I end up seeing the nurses and this must put more pressure on them. Even when I've asked there hasn't been an opportunity to talk to a GP either just a nurse appointment. When you are offered a choice it's difficult to know who to chose because I don't know who people are. I did have issues on my last visit when the display said I was the next patient being called but it didn't say which room the nurse was in.

Not as personal

I don't feel that its as personal as it was but the care provided by staff is good. I don't particularly like completing the Ask my gp as I'm not sure what to put down, also I've had issues when I've had to do a submission for a family member where it has kicked me out. Mum is not able to use online services due to her disability but when she calls she is told to use it so then I have to do it. She wants to remain independent and would rather book and arrange her own appointments but this system is stopping her.

More difficult

It is more difficult to speak to or see a GP but generally get to speak to a nurse or paramedic to address the issues.

Good care

Waiting until the afternoon to receive a call back or be seen when you have young children can be difficult at times. It does feel that appointments are more delayed now and you do end up going back and forth a bit to the doctors as not all of the issues are addressed in the first place. The care provided is good when you do see them and we mainly see the nurses who are very helpful.

Would prefer to book ahead

Using Ask My GP is okay, it can mean a bit more to and fro to get something arranged but on the whole I have had face to face appointments when needed. Only had a couple of occasions where I felt an actual consultation would've been better than the telephone call I got. When I'm working I just find it more difficult to take the calls and because there is no flexibility to book ahead it is more tricky to arrange around work. Mainly I've seen the nurse practitioner although I would prefer to see my GP at times. It would also be nice to be able to book appointments with reception staff in the surgery rather than having to go home and arrange appointments when you are already there.

Don't like Ask My GP

I don't like having to go through the Ask My GP form with reception when I call. The call backs have then been up to a day later but they have solved most issues. The latest issue I had couldn't be dealt with before I went away which was a shame. I do struggle to understand some staff and I would prefer to see my own GP.

Doing well

I use a mix of calling and Ask My GP to deal with issues that come up. I've been able to book and arrange appointments in advance and haven't had to wait long for them either. I don't come often to the surgery but when I need assistance I can get it.

Ask My GP is good

Ask My GP is a good and easy system to use but it would be great if it could be open a little earlier in the morning so that a submission can be completed before getting children ready for school or going to work. We have had a problem getting a prescription for one of the children, it took a week to get the medication needed. In the past I haven't felt well listened to but at the moment I have not had this problem.
