Seen quickly
April 7, 2025
I was taken by ambulance straight in to A&E and was quickly seen with a heart problem. They carried out a range of tests and I was then moved to a ward for the night. I received good care throughout and in the morning they discussed going home and advised me to go and see my GP, which I've already arranged.
My wound came open

I had a hip replacement and 3 weeks later my wound actually came open, I went back to the hospital they admitted me and I had to have the wound redone, I was put on introvenous antobiotics and a 12 weeks course of tablets to stop infection. I was given my own room and experienced very good service. Staff were amazing, right the way from the cleaning staff to the nursing staff, I felt well cared for and could not find fault with any of them, really really good service. When I went home they came out to my home and did the introvenous antibiotics there which was very helpful and all the nurse that came out did so well and were very professional and kind.
Very busy
Accident and emergency services

Three weeks ago I spent 3 days in the corridor after going in to A&E as they were so busy. The first day I was in a chair and on the 2nd day I was moved to a bed. Care was good and it was obvious the staff were really busy as they opened up a new area for patients.
Day surgery worry
Day surgery

I have been waiting for 15 months to have my gall bladder removed, I had a phone call recently to say they are ready to do it within a month, they have followed up the call with a letter to confirm. They have told me that it is going to be a day surgery only and I am concerned that I will need to be in for longer, I am concerned in case there are any issues, I live a good 40 mins away from the hospital and I feel that I should be kept in at least 24 hours as precautionary reasons. They have been very competent so far they have been thorough and marvellous when I was admitted to Stour ward, and the assessment unit was excellent that staff were kindness itself.

Took my heavenly pregnant girlfriend to A&E due to having a severe nose bleed wait time went from 2 hours to 5 hours one of the doctors who came out and explained the time and any questions was absolutely rude is attitude was discussing I asked to if I could speak to him and he went to 3 other patients before me and my partner then had the audacity to ignore us telling us our problems wasn’t that bad despite my girlfriend is 32 weeks pregnant 8 weeks to go everytime we asked staff for help or how long we kept getting annoyed there lucky to get 2star receptionist was lovely and helpful just the doctors and nurses
CYP waiting list issue in ENT
Ear Nose and Throat
April 4, 2025
We have a foster child in our care and I am concerned that because of the long waiting list for her to firstly be assessed and then to have a procedure done on her kissing tonsils and addenoids she is going to be very delayed with speech, she struggles to make herself understood as she has some hearing issues also and had 4 audiology tests. ENT have said that her hearing should improve as she grows but the tonsils and addenoids is a real issue for her, SALT team had two sessons but she needs to be assessed without delay for this procedure because sound formation is going to cause her some developmental delays and it is concerning for me.

I find the team in the renal clinic run by Diaverum are friendly and helpful, we are on first name terms, we have got to know each other as I am there so often. I have been attending this clinic for the last 3 years following sepsis. There is not enough staff though I feel. They have a counsellor should the patients need to talk. When I have to see the renal consultant that all seems to go well and communication is very good between department and patient. My blood is tested once per month and I can view my results on line. It is a very well run clinic. They also offer a service that means if I ever wanted to go away on holiday they would organise a location where dialysis can be done whilst I am away, but I havent taken up on that idea.
No endoscopy service over the weekend
Washbrook
March 26, 2025
My dad was given steroid medication which we thought caused my dad to have a bleed in his stomach, that was on the Friday, he was referred for an endoscopy in the hospital but because there was not anyone available to carry out an endoscopy over the weekend at the hospital they kept him in essentially blocking a hospital bed until he could get the procedure done the following week. It would have been far better if the NHS had referred him to a private endoscopy service I do not think that he should have taken up a hospital bed unecessarily. Staff on the ward were excellent but it appears that weekends are difficult for the hospital to get full staff team available.

I've had very good support from staff with my condition, I come to the hospital regularly each week and it's all been good and the staff are lovely.
Was missed

When I attended for an xray I got in to a gown and waited to be taken through but I kept seeing patients who arrived after me going in and then leaving. After waiting one and a half hours they realised that they had missed me. The diabetes centre are good and I'm very pleased with the information and support provided.
