Quite a wait

Orthopaedics
February 10, 2025
I've had back issues for some time but this is the first time my GP has referred my here for an injection and it's been quite a wait. If I had not been a stronger person I would've been put off from coming in. As at different points staff have tried to put me off.

Received great care when I was rushed to hospital with a suspected heart attack. The staff were great at all points. I really couldn't fault anything.

Been here a lot

Coming in via paediatrics A&E each time has meant long waits. Triaged quickly but then have to wait to be seen, which has been 5 hours at times. Once through it works, the staff are great and on the ball especially the nurses. Parking is an issue as it is difficult to find somewhere to park. There are good coffee facilities but we have noticed that vending machines across the site, including in A&E are often out of order and that means there are no options available unless you leave A&E and risk not being there when they call you. We have had times when a department has said to go and get an xray but then when you get there it hasn't been booked.

Many thanks for taking to time to leave your feedback, I have passed this on the Matron for paediatrics A&E for her attention and also to the facilities team regarding the refreshments and the parking. We are always looking for where we can improve services and your comments will be taken in to account where possible. Thank you.

Screening picked up cancer

Cancer services
February 10, 2025
I went for my regular screening and it picked up my breast cancer. Once it was identified I was seen very quickly and everything went very smoothly. I was given the right information at the right time and the radiotherapy staff were amazing.

Happy

Orthopaedics
February 10, 2025
I'm happy with the orthopaedics department. I have annual appointments and see the same consultant each time and all staff I've seen have explained issues well. Parking is difficult at times and you do have to walk a long way, which when walking is issue you are coming to see them about and you can't park near the department it is a difficult.

I am sorry that you have difficulty parking and this can lead to long walks. We do operate a "buggy" system once inside the building that can transport you around the corridors.

Issues

Orthopaedics
February 10, 2025
The original referral was before covid but everything has take so long. My husband has had xrays, MRIs and seen consultants including neurology but its been so drawn out. Its difficult when someone works away as they are not able to keep phoning up to change appointments etc and although I have permission to speak for him there is never anything on his record to show that so staff won't speak to me. The parking is more difficult now too.

Drop off difficult

Orthopaedics
February 10, 2025
Outside of orthopaedics is now a one way system but opposite to how it used to be so when you drop a patient off they are now in the middle of the road when you are getting them out of the car. Previously you could drop people off straight on to the pavement, now you have to get a wheelchair out of the car and then push them along the road to get to the area with the dropped kerb. I have been impressed how quickly we have been seen after the referral went in from the GP as it was only done before Christmas and with in weeks we've been seen by the consultant.

Care very good

Orthopaedics
February 10, 2025
There have been delays today of 1 hour for the appointment and the parking now is very difficult and has meant on occasions being late for appointments and there are no easy drop off points now. As much as there are issues the care once in is very good and I've had both hips and knees operated on. The staff can never do more for you.

Pleased

Orthopaedics

I've been pleased that I was called in mid December and now in mid January I've had my appointment with the orthopaedics team. The appointments do run a little behind, today it was about 30 minutes but its not really a massive problem.

Great maternity care

Maternity
February 10, 2025
I had fantastic care when I was having my baby and needed to stay in for 5 days. I felt well listened to when I raised my concerns and I was given different options. I decided to stay in for the 5 days through my labour when it started and then stopped again. I did find that the knowledge about tongue tie was a bit lacking and when checks were done it was all a bit cursory, in the end we went private due to concerns.
