Everyone without exception was kind, efficient, caring, compassionate, informative and skilled. A&E at 1am were exceptional in dealing with my wife's sudden illness.

Following a blood test, an imbalance was indicated and a following CT scan showed cancer in the right kidney. The Kidney was removed within 4 months of the blood test being taken. I was in hospital for 4 days and recovered quickly. Operation November 2020 so in the middle of the COVID pandemic.

Great care

Orthopaedics
January 24, 2025
I've had multiple operations at the hospital for knee and shoulder issues and currently waiting for another. The last operation for my knee was an 18 month wait but I really can't fault the care I received from staff both on the ward and after by the physio's. The physio's have mentioned that my next appointment may be at Colchester in the new facility.

Husband had his hip operation at the hospital and we've been really impressed with the care he's received. There was obviously a bit of a wait for the operation but we've been very pleased with everything.

I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Secondary Breast Cancer HER2 +++ it had spread to my brain, liver, lungs, bones. Started on docetaxol had 8 rounds - side effects awful. Had wbr 10 sessions over 2 weeks then oral chemo after which I didn’t cope with at all so spoke to my Oncologist who started Me on Enhertu, which I am still receiving every 3 weeks and having ct scans every 3 months. Currently everything is stable. The service and nurses are incredible I cannot thank them enough.

They took our concern seriously

Surgical

We took our son in to the urgent treatment centre on a Sunday with a lump on his testicle. By the Thursday, he had been for an op to remove the lump which unfortunately was cancerous. Unfortunately we then received another diagnosis of sarcoma. We were treated so respectfully and everyone was kind we are very thankful.

Support within the day unit is very good

Day unit very good. Support poor and disjointed. No verbal communication. All done by text, which is not very good for support or confidence in advice ètc.

Diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer

Cancer services
January 22, 2025
Fast and efficient diagnosis once I found the lump (however mammogram had shown all clear 3 weeks earlier!)
Prompt surgery, and radiotherapy.
Follow up has been exemplary especially from the breast nurses who respond immediately to any concerns with patience and empathy. Free physio session have prevented tightness in scar regions.
I have felt listened to throughout the journey.
