Really can't fault

January 22, 2025
I find using the Ask My GP system works as it means you don't always need to come in to the surgery. To fill in the form is straight forward enough and you get quick responses so I'm completely happy to use it. Care provided by the staff is always good and the reception team are welcoming and polite.

The Ask My GP system works really well as you get to speak to someone quickly and then see them for an appointment later that morning or day.

I try to go to the pharmacist first before contacting the surgery but I have been finding it a bit more complicated when you could just call and book an appointment. I prefer to see someone face to face as it is easier to have a conversation than when speaking on the phone, when I forget to ask things. Staff on the phone have been polite and helpful but it is easier to talk to someone you know so having the same doctor is helpful.

Thank you for your response.
To enable us to operate our 'same day service', our clinicians really need to arrange their own appointments, so they can allow the appropriate time for each patient and manage the demand of the day.
If you would prefer to see someone face-to-face, please let the clinician know at the time of your call and they will try their best to accommodate this for you.

No problems personnally

I'm happy to use online but also use the phone to contact the surgery. Following a conversation with a doctor I then have been given an appointment. If possible I try to see the same doctor which does help with my ongoing issue as I don't have to repeat everything that has already been tried or done. I don't really feel anything needs to change much and the staff are always friendly and helpful.

We are glad to hear that everything works well for you. We agree that it is important for patients to have continuity of care with their chosen clinician, to avoid repetition.

The friendliness of staff is great. I don't use Ask my GP but when I call staff take all the details needed to fill in the form for me which works really well and then you get a call back. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff, they are great.

Thank you for leaving us such positive feedback.
We do encourage patients to you use AskmyGP as it enables the clinician to respond much easier when the details have been entered by the patient. It often provides them with more accurate information about the reason for their contact, rather than the receptionist having to relay the information.
We fully understand that some patients do not have internet access, so our phone lines are always open for those people.

I like that you can see someone on the day including a GP if needed. Staff are friendly and helpful and I really can't fault them. There is encouragement to go online but not pressure which is good. When things go wrong you do lose confidence but they have squeezed me in for a blood test when I thought I had booked the appointment online. I do worry about the capacity in the future but parking is really the only issue.

We are regular talks with our landlord to try and increase the size of our car park and we fully understand that parking is an issue for our patients.

Quick to speak to someone

November 29, 2024
Ask my gp works very well and it's quick to speak to and then see them. Having a good rapport, to me is very important. The Physicians Associate I've seen wasn't able to prescribe so why not just have an appointment with a nurse prescriber. The nurses are very good at saying while you are here we'll do x y and z which is great because they pick up on things that need to be done.

Very good surgery

My late husband who died in March 24 was bed bound for the last two years of his life, the doctor would visit him at home and they would be very caring, they were there the day before my husband passed away and there was another medical doctor who was with us on the day he died, we couldn't have wished for better service, the staff were there for him for the whole two years they were so good to us both.

Blood appointments fiasco

September 13, 2024
Clinicians asking patients to arrange blood tests then getting told by receptionists no blood test appointments for 2/3 weeks. Reason being people aren't turning up for appointments, told by reception 6-8 blood test appts per day are no shows.
So why Stowhealth knowing this haven't adopted a number system. You arrive during set phlebotomy clinic time take a number and sit and wait.
