Vast improvement to old system

July 12, 2016
Vast improvement to the old system, I can book 1 or 2 months in advance online and don't have to wait up to an hour to be seen. The computer isn't stable which makes entering information difficult .

New system has improved wait times

July 12, 2016
The old system meant that you could wait 1-2 hours to be seen but this is not the case for the new system. The computer is really not user friendly even for someone who uses them but for older people it is very difficult and they did move. Phoning is much easier and staff have been very good. I did have problems making an appointment on the computer and a member of staff had to help.

Good and efficient staff

I prefer the new system. I called, made an appointment on the day and was seen that morning very quickly. Good and efficient staff.

Difficult to get short notice blood tests

July 12, 2016
I'm on warfarin and regularly have to have emergency blood tests but appointments in these situations are not easy to get. A walk in appointment can be had but we arrived at 8am and waited until 11.30. 2 Phlebotomists are on duty and often one has to spend time fixing the computer which isn't accurate enough so incorrect information is entered so it take a lot of time. I book my next months blood test a month ahead to make sure I get one. Walnuttree used to have three phlebotomists on duty.

Why did they change the process

July 12, 2016
Staff member was very good. I can't understand why they've changed things. I have no internet, mobile or computer. I booked and appointment at 10.25 and was seen at 11.55 . Your name comes up on the screen but as other patients come in and register for their appointments your name goes down the list, so you never know when you'll be seen.. A tea and coffee machine would be good considering the long waits.

fair

The experience once you have an appointment with the phlebotomist is excellent but getting an appointment is extremely difficult. There are no longer any "drop in" appointments and it seems a phlebotomist is on hand to help people sign in and register and so is not actually available to take blood.
Many elderly people needing blood tests find it hard to get to the Health Centre and prefer to arrive and get a ticket and wait their turn. They do not like to ring up, press buttons on the phone and wait to make the appointment

System doesn't work brilliantly

June 13, 2016
Recently I tried to get an appointment for a blood test after seeing the practice nurse. I was told I could get a walk in appointment first thing in the morning, but on arrival I was told I had to book and the first appointment available was 2 hours later. Someone helped me book using the computer system and we went home. When we came back I tried to enter the details on the computer but it said the appointment was not recognised. Very kindly the phlebotomist said they would squeeze me in. The old system was far superior to the new one.

Very helpful

A phlebotomist was very helpful and helped me check in. I got an appointment immediately and I couldn't fault the service.

very good

Generally a very good service but the new system isn't working very well. This is partly because the computer is not fixed so moves when you try to enter details, plus the font size is quite small for people. There are often three phlebotomists but now one is used to help at the computer but this takes them away from doing blood tests.

The old system of pulling a ticket on arrival worked well
