Lack of information but care was OK.

When I was in hospital I was given no information about what was happening, when I would be going home. This was very frustrating. I just wanted to go home. The care was generally ok, no complaints about that.
Good but delay in receiving pain relief

The care when I've been in hospital has been good. I take my toilet seat riser with me as the toilets aren't high enough and cause me problems. The bed at the hospital that I had suited my needs as it had a short side to the bed which helped me to maintain my independence. I use oxygen and the NHS pay for the electricity needed for it to used. I'd rather not have this contribution and save money for the NHS. I did ask for my tramadol but was not given, even though we had asked multiple times. I finally got it at 4 pm after asking most of the day

On my son's initial visit on a Tuesday night we were seen very quickly. The hospital carried out a lot of tests on the wound, x-rayed and then contacted our surgery for them to dress the wound regularly. When the wound got re-infected in December we went back late in the evening on a Saturday and were seen at 8.00 am after arriving at midnight. The care was very good but they were extremely busy and the patients being admitted were mainly older people

I was in a psychiatric ward for 2 months. But they got me well. I have schizophrenia. I have been in hospital a long time.
Staff went out of their way to help.

Elective c section. Staff went out of their way to help with anxiety and bipolar - I know who was doing it in advance and community midwife accompanied me. Staff couldn't have been more helpful if they tried.
Communication is bad

Communication between West Suffolk Hospital and Colchester Hospital is really bad. I actually bring information to my appointment as if they send it it never arrives

Treatment and care in A&E has always been excellent when we've had to attend.

My mother was in hospital on F5 for 8 days. During this time I had to go looking for someone to explain what was happening, had to interrupt staff that were chatting and she had her dressing gown stolen. When she was discharged they didn't inform the care home she was going home and they sent her home in her nightdress and was found to have faeces on her.

The treatment for my skin cancer has been very good. Even 3 years after my last treatment I phoned up with concerns on a Tuesday and was seen and had it removed on the Friday.

My gynecologist has been very good. She's been great at explaining everything. Although my operations booked were cancelled twice my operation will take place later in the month and she offered to do an additional procedure as I would need it done with in a short time anyway.
