Rude staff and almost impossible to park the car

Ear Nose and Throat
April 28, 2017
I was referred to West Suffolk Hospital by my doctor. My husband drove me and we allowed plenty of time (or so we thought) for the drive in and to get parked. There were no spaces and we drove all around the nearby roads looking. We went back to the hospital and eventually found a place by which time we were running late. I was quite stressed as I don't like being late and when we got to the clinic the staff were quite rude and abrupt with us.

Not enough disabled parking

unknown
April 25, 2017
My friend is disabled, we took her to West Suffolk Hospital, which would appear to have only four disabled parking spots. That's not adequate. There are some new disabled parking spots further back in the car park but there isn't a slope to get onto the path.

Poor treatment and care

Ward F4
April 24, 2017
From my arrival on the ward I was put next to the window so froze as they couldn't close them. Had an incident during my operation where a non sterile plate was placed into my toe and a nurse realised it was the clinically clean plate not the sterile plate luckily. Had to be on antibiotics that don't suit me in case of infection.. I had to stay the night, not impressed. Rude. Lack of care, not enough staff. This is only part of my experience

Very attentive Staff but parking expensive and crowded

Very attentive staff who explain things well and the follow ups have been good too. The car park is very expensive and crowded which makes attending appointments difficult.

Orthopaedics was great

Orthopaedics

I recently had a knee replacement and was very happy with the staff, they were incredibly busy. My consultant visited me on both Saturday and Sunday and I was very pleased with the treatment and explanations.

Hearing aid service very good

Hearing aid services

The hearing aid service has been very good. Explanations are detailed and they always do their best. Having the local voluntary organisation that visits the surgery to help maintain and provide new batteries works really well.

Looked after me extremely well

Gynaecology

I couldn't fault the treatment I received. I had never been in hospital before and was naturally aprehensive but was treated with respect by friendly staff who made me feel totally at ease and looked after me extremely well.

Poor communication and explanation.

April 18, 2017
MRI in May - all clear was given regarding the chest issue but the letter highlighted that they had found something ENT related but gave no explanation which is worrying. They also did not refer me to ENT. There is an 18 week waiting list to see ENT. Queried this with the department secretary who arranged an appointment sooner. When I saw the consultant he said that had requested a biopsy and to come back in 1 -2 weeks. This hadn't been arranged and I am now waiting for this appointment to be confirmed. The communication and explanation has not been great.

Good care but decision making can be slow.

April 18, 2017
The care has been good but there is an inertia about getting thing done and decisions taken. My son went in with appendicitis but getting decisions made about whether he would stay in over Sunday night took time and then when he was being discharged it took 2.5 - hours to get medication ready for him to go home
