Wasteful use of NHS resources

Appointments
June 21, 2018
When I get an appointment letter it goes onto two pages. This letter would fit on to one page so it is a waste of paper and NHS resources.

They refused to see me! Poor discharge

Accident and emergency services
June 21, 2018
The ambulance picked me up from my GP surgery and took me to A&E. I saw a doctor and they put me on a drip for my diabetes. I was put in a bay with lots of chairs. I had taken an overdose but the access and assessment team refused to come and see me. I was discharged at 4:30 am, which cost a lot. I was left with no further help came from NSFT.

It was very easy

I 'walked in' to book a blood test without an appointment. It was a very easy process. I am now off for a coffee and I will come back in 40 minutes as indicated.

The appointment system is good although it is only my husband who uses it (I'm not a computer person). Worked very well for us though.

Fantastic, but..

Orthopaedics
June 8, 2018
My experience in the hospital was fantastic but my appointment letter (on the front page) told me to park in the front car park (I use a disabled space) but it was full. I managed to park at Harwicke Heath car park but my wheelchair got stuck in the mud on my way across to the hospital. I manged to get a passer by to push me out but I was a bit panicky. I noticed subsequently on the second page of my appointment letter that there is a small part about a new car parking facility at the rear of the hospital. I might have been able to avoid getting stuck if that info. had been on the first page!

They couldn't tell me where I should go

Ear Nose and Throat

I called in at Audiology reception to get some new hearing aid batteries and I was told that they don't issue them anymore. That wasn't great but they couldn't tell me where I should go to get some.

Thank you for your recent feedback.

Batteries are still issued at the Audiology department at West Suffolk Foundation Trust from the Audiology reception desk – Reception B in outpatients located in the main building. Battery collection is available between 9am -12 noon and then again between 2pm – 4pm. You will require your NHS battery issuing card in order to obtain the new batteries.
Alternatively you can request hearing aids via our postal service, we would require a large stamped addressed envelope in order for batteries to be returned to your home address.
If you have a private hearing aid then batteries will need to be purchased from a chemist or your private hearing aid provider.

Batteries for NHS hearing aids can also be collected from a number of community sites- for further details on this please referrer to the Suffolk Hearing support scheme website.

Knowledge can be limited at times

June 4, 2018
The hospital doesn't have enough allergists and the knowledge of some staff is quite limited on specific conditions. This then means that I have to travel to other hospitals for simple procedures which is added stress.
