This ward (G3) is much cleaner
August 3, 2018
This ward (G3) is much cleaner than the other two I have been in during this stay. The nurses are attentive and very hard working but they are reticent to give much in the way of medical information-they refer me to the doctors and they don't come round very often.
Nurses are terrific
Ward G3
August 3, 2018
Yesterday my overall score would have been 5 stars but today it has reduced to 4. The nurses are terrific but the doctors are few and far between. The bathroom floors are sometimes very wet and in my view they are dangerous. This is day 3 for me and I am far from clear about what will happen to me next. Communication from doctors has not been very good and I can't discern any routine to their visits to the ward
Appointment letters have been incorrect
Hearing aid services
August 3, 2018
I had hearing aids fitted but when I went back to my surgery and they cleaned my ears they didn't know how I'd had my hearing tested with that amount of wax. Since having them cleaned I don't need the hearing aids. On a couple of occasions when appointment letters have arrived they have been incorrect one was even showing I should attend another Sudbury in another part of the country.
Staff attitude leaves a lot to be desired
Gynaecology

Mr X's attitude to a biopsy taken from my mother with dementia, leaves a lot to be desired. She was rude to the nurse, making the situation uncomfortable, took the biopsy, said it would confirm cancer, then we had to attend again as the sample taken was ineffective. Very dismissive as Mum is 90 and has dementia so MRI scan not advantage. Addenbrookes confirmed they do scan ladies like Mum, but no options for Mum it appears. As a consultant, the NHS are desperate for staff but at any cost!
Poor communication
Geriatric Medicine

There is poor communication between the hospital and the care home regarding residents temporarily hospitalised.
ED visit with a child
Accident and emergency services

My child fell from a tree (elbow injury) from arrival nobody used #hellomynameis although they bang on about it the whole time, staff abrupt to point of rude, despite fracture arm not put in sling told you carry on with the make do one provided by school, whole experience sub optimal, very interesting however to sit and hear staff complaints about shortages and managements attitudes and also other patients and their ailments.
Care on the Stroke Unit was excellent
Stroke services
July 23, 2018
G8 - My 94 year old uncle had a stroke on 8th July and discharged from the hospital on 12th. Care on the stroke unit was excellent. The staff, from Junior Doctor to porters were all extremely helpful and approachable. My only criticism is the lack of immediate support on discharge. My uncle is 94, live alone, and was left struggling to speak as a result of the stroke. He is lucky that friends and family were willing and able to support in terms of giving him medication and food suitable for soft/moist diet. I am meeting with social services in July, nearly a week after discharge!
They are all excellent

I came in on Sat 30th (June). They are all excellent. Things couldn't be any better from my point of view.
I can't think of anything they could improve
Ward F9

I can't think of anything that they could really improve. I was attacked and injured in town late at night and brought in by ambulance. There no problem at all with the admission process.

The team here always find the time to go through everything with you. All questions are answered. Nursing attention is great-I find this hospital better than Addenbrokes
