I do feel you have to use econsult, I miss being able to just ask for a face to face appointments and I don't like the extra steps needed but staff when you do see them are great.

Contacting the surgery online is really quick and especially for the children you then get called in to the surgery if there is a need. The doctors are lovely. The pharmacy has also improved.

When you come in for appointments it's fine and the staff are good but I'm not technically minded and sometimes when I just need to ask a question it seems a lot to have to go online. When I'm told I have to go online there is the assumption that you have a smart phone, but I have to access my emails via my computer at home.

I've found going online is quicker to get appointments and the doctors and nurses are great.
Brilliant nurses

It took a while to get used to using econsult but I have had call backs with in 48 hrs but it was a bit fiddly. When it's been more urgent I've also had on the day responses. The nurses are really thorough and responsive and I've been seen weekly and they've been brilliant. The process does feel more rigid and there is the feeling the appointments are restricted but for my husband it's been very good.
Children seen quickly

The children are seen quicker than adults, with them being seen on the day where as for adults it can be 48hrs. The practitioners we've seen with the children have always been good. When I've used econsult I've found it to be drawn out and it can feel that when you have an urgent issue like it's going off in to the unknown and you have to trust they will pick it up and will come back to you. I came in to the surgery when I was very worried about something and was told to go home and fill in an econsult.

I arranged a blood test for a couple of days time but when I need to go online I have to get my daughter to support me to do the submission. The nurse has been very good and phone calls with the doctors do address the issues and I rarely need to see them.

Online access when working isn't great when you work full time as its difficult to complete and then you have to wait 2 weeks for an appointment which has meant a delay to starting medication advised by the hospital. The system is more drawn out and I don't like that the practice is putting so much emphasis on going online, even when you can't.

I've used econsult in the past to contact the surgery and it has worked well to get quick responses but I've not used Anima yet, I'm hoping that it will be easy to use. The staff I've seen have been supportive.
Difficulties with Anima

The first time I used Anima to contact the surgery it took 2 hours. I kept being asked to confirm an appointment after doing the online entry and receiving a text message but I couldn't find anywhere to confirm and there was nothing in the text. In the end I called the surgery and after they could see all the messages they arranged for me to see a doctor. I did feel that I was being asked for a bit too much history which should already be in my notes plus the language used was quite medicalised making it hard to know what was wanted.
