Unhelpful

February 22, 2024
My 81 year old father asked me to take him to see a Dr , I initially tried calling but the wait was too long so I suggested we went in person to the surgery
Upon arrival the reception was very standoffish and told me to either call or econsult, I explained that my father was here and virtually deaf and would it be possible to see a Dr, I was told they are short staffed , she then started to complete a form which would result in a call back within 48 hours, as a rule this would not be a problem however on this occasion my father has a UTI which had affected him badly ,
There was No duty of care to my elderly father , I left very disappointed that I would have to take him to ED for what should have been simple antibiotics,

A good surgery

Generally a good surgery. It can be a bit of a wait on the phone when calling to arrange an appointment but once through appointments are available and the staff are good.

Care is good

I'm able to get appointments when I need them but it can be a bit of a wait to get through to the surgery on the phone but once I've been seen the care has been good.

Don't see the same GP

February 6, 2024
Because I don't see the same GP each time different doctors go down slightly different routes with treatments. There have been times when the way a family member has been spoken about has been quite blunt and not very caring regarding the concerns we have over a long term condition. Our concerns have been dismissed and I don't feel we get the support we need.

Don't use the surgery much

The phones can be busy but it is good to know where you are in the queue when calling the surgery. I've had my annual review by phone and then arranged an appointment online which is a good option to have. I do find the layout of the chairs which face away from the clinicians calling you a bit odd but can see they face the new screen. The air con was quite breezy this week where I was sitting.

Not as quick as would've liked

February 6, 2024
When I contacted the surgery first thing I was told that the only way to get an appointment was to go online and that I needed to ask someone to do it for me which wasn't good. I got a family member to help me and completed an econsult but I did not receive a call back until late in the day when I was then invited in for an appointment. On seeing the doctor I was told to quickly go to hospital for bloods and the eye clinic. (Bloods couldn't be done at the surgery as it was too late), I wasn't told how serious the condition could've been and only found out later on. I have had difficulties getting the medication I've needed but staff today have been trying to sort it all out for me.

Lack of interest in symptoms

February 5, 2024
At my first consultation the Doctor I saw wanted to see me again in 2 weeks to see how the treatment had worked. I also required some x-rays which would be reviewed at 2nd appointment. Due to illness my 2nd appointment was cancelled and when I rebooked I had no idea which Doctor I was going to see. I saw a totally different Doctor who had no idea of the issue I went for initially and really showed no interest in helping with a solution for my symptoms. I left feeling that I had wasted my time.

E consult playing up but reception helpful

January 15, 2024
Tried doing e consult but it wouldn’t play nicely with me so rang reception who were very helpful when told them the problems I was having. In a way I understand why people don’t like e consult and I suppose we are stuck in our ways. But for me it was a quick easy route to getting the care I required.

Awful visit, left waiting

January 10, 2024
Arrived 10 mins after a call from the doctor for my poorly daughter. Had two children with me, spoke to a woman on reception and was advised she’d check us in. Waited an hour and 20 minutes, watched everyone come and go until we were the only ones left. Reception staff paid no attention to the fact we were still waiting. Asked if I had in fact been checked in as I was still waiting to be told- yes, I’ll message the doctor as he’s delayed. Shortly after we were finally called through. The doctor apologised for the mistake and confirmed we had not been checked in. Was in with the doctor a few short minutes and then had to queue at the pharmacy. The new policy that is displayed everywhere in the pharmacy is a joke. If you’ve been waiting more than 15 minutes after speaking to us let us know. This simply means staff make you queue for longer and refuse to make eye contact until they’re ready to process your request. All the seats in the pharmacy are empty but the queue stretches back to the doctors surgery. If the pharmacy SLA is being judged on how many people wait more than 15 minutes this is wholly incorrect as everyone who queued with me waited well over an hour. Whole experience was a sham!
