unable to book appt in advance

September 22, 2023
have tried every day this week to book appt for fairly important but non life threatening issue. phoned at 8am each morning and sit in queue for 30mins to be told sorry no more appts available today try again tomorrow.
Also tried to book online and received message saying no more appts available today.
How are patients supposed to get to see a doctor? Even for important ailments.

Appointment confusion

September 20, 2023
I called Monday for app with health advisor. Was given appointment today at 4.30pm. I called to check time today and there is no appointment even tho I have a text message confirmation. Now I have to wait till October 10th. Just wondered what happened? And good job I called to check instead of turning up today.

None of doctors have patience or understanding of autism

September 8, 2023
Lots of things are hard to do is you are an autistic person. In my experience none of the doctors here have any patience or understanding of autism. There is a wall stopping me from feeling able to communicate and my health is suffering but there is nothing I do about it.

Can be difficult to get appointment

July 25, 2023
If you can only ring up, it is a frustrating wait. When you finally get through, more often than not, all the appointments have gone, so it is difficult to get appointments. I was told you can get weekend appointments, but no one tells you how to access those. It would suit me better with my work as sometimes it is for something that is not keeping you off work.

Thank you for providing feedback, we recognise that our phone lines can be very busy and we now have additional staff taking calls during these times. It is often quicker and easier to request an appointment via our website, https://www.highstreetsurgerylowestoft.nhs.uk/. Appointments are available at weekends at other practices, I apologies that you have not been informed previously on availability, please do request this information during your next contact with the practice. How many times before I see GP

July 25, 2023
With an ongoing condition that I have seen many different people about and not got anywhere, apart from blood tests, I now feel I need to see a GP who has more experience. I do not know how many different types of professionals you have to see before they let you see a GP here. It just feels impossible. If the issue had been resolved, that would be fine, but now I am at the point where I feel a GP is needed, but just feel I am blocked.

Hard to get through

July 25, 2023
It is hard to get through sometimes. When I tried yesterday (day before I got this appointment), at 8am it was 40 minutes wait and then I was told to ring today, so that I could see the same GP as I had before. However, although I got through and have been given an appointment, I have just found out that I am seeing a Nurse practitioner and not a GP at all. It has made me feel cross as I felt mislead.

Thank you for your feedback, we apologise you have had difficulties obtaining an appointment.

The quickest way to access our practice is via our website, the website opens for appointments at 8am and will close when we are fully booked, the website will remain available during practice opening times for other functionalities such as requesting a sick note or registrations.

We are working hard to accommodate appointments for our patients, if we unable to provide an appointment at a time you have requested we are often able to provide advice or sign post to another appropriate service. Our appointments are bookable on the day, we no longer book appointment in advance with our GP and Nurse
practitioner team.

Our receptionists are trained to book appointments with the most appropriate clinician, we try our best to accommodate patient requests with their allocated GP however will always offer you an alternative if the GP is not available. I do apologise that you were not made aware of who you would be seeing.

If you would like to discuss further please contact the practice on 01502 589151 or via email nwicb.highstreetdoctor@nhs.net

Check-in screen

July 25, 2023
Here for an appointment that I rang for this morning, so that is really good. On the check-in screen it says 'you can have your flu jab' but when I asked at reception about booking one they said that they are not doing that yet. It is June now, so I had thought is may be early, but as the screen said it, it is giving you mixed messages.

Thank you for your 4 star review, I am pleased that you were able to get an appointment quickly. I apologise that the message you saw on our check in screen was inaccurate, I can confirm that we now have a new check in machine in our reception area and this issue has been resolved.
All of our eligible patients will be contacted to book a flu vaccine, if you wish to make an appointment please contact the practice on 01502 589151.

Well women clinic

July 25, 2023
Whilst I am aware that there is a well-woman clinic that I am in the category for, I have not been contacted as yet to go. I would welcome this as feel I am early Menopausal and would like to have the opportunity to talk about those things. Just feel they need to be proactive on these things as women are not feeling supported enough in this.

Getting on the day appointment

July 25, 2023
I have had 3 appointments in the last week and managed to get them 'on the day' even though I have been 30 or so in the queue. You still get down the queue in about 20 minutes, so I think that is good. The communication could be better as I sat in the wrong area to get bloods.
