Wonderful staff
Stroke services

My son aged 54 was in the stroke unit. He was in a vegetative state after an operation on a blood clot. The staff were wonderful and so caring
Rapid diagnosis and good treatment
Cancer services

Doctor acted immediately when he though there was a problem. I had an endoscopy, and laporoscopy. Staff very kind, treatment on time and went smoothly - wonderful new wing
Good service at A&E children's dept.
Accident and emergency services

We took my son in at 9 pm after he suffered a football injury at school. A&E was very busy. As he was 13 years old they allowed us to go into the children's section where we only waited half an hour. There were no broken bones just muscle damage. He was told to take pain killers and not to do sport for a couple of weeks. The staff were good.
Excellent care and staff

The whole unit has been wonderful.
The dietician and speech therapist have been great.
Norwich hospital did the surgery and initial aftercare was excellent.

The physios showed personal interest often with individual attention. While doing the exercises they explained reasons and checked on your progress. They encouraged.

Poor appointment service
Ear Nose and Throat

ENT appointments. I have asked every time for an appointment in the mornings only. I am not fussy as to day. My husband is over 70 years od and I rely on him for transport. However he does not like to drive at night or during the rush hour.traffic. My last appointment shich I could not attend was for 3 pm. 10 November. By the time I get seen to it is dark at this time of the year and the rush hour is in full swing. I explained this to the appointments and was told I now have to wait 6 weeks before I get seen to again
Excellent
Ophthalmology
November 10, 2016
The whole experience was done efficiently with friendlliness from the time we entered Ipswich Hospital to the time we left. My appointment was 2.15 pm. and I was called at that time. Everything went smoothly with nurses explaining each stage before I had laser in my right eye.
All done in a few minutes and back to car park feeling stressfree and eye was very comfortable. I feel very confident in recommending the eye clinic to anyone with eye problems

Fair but communications poor

The care on the ward I'm on now has been good and staff have been very attentive.
During the investigation stage of my cancer I missed CT scans due to letters not arriving and I didn't get the text reminder either. This then delayed my operation and the knock on effect on the NHS of this one missed appointment was very costly (in monetary terms). Communication of information is not great. I've been asked many times what I'm allergic to when it should be on my notes

Good but some issues need addressing

The toilets have been a bit hit and miss. The higher seat has been removed and I found it difficul without it. Needham and Martlesham wards have been marvellous. I was moved here at 21.00 on Sunday when I was half asleep which wasn't great but I understood why. Bed creaks and is not the most comfy compared to the electric one. Lights out is later on this ward compared to the other wards.
Getting a care package sorted is delaying my discharge and the lack of communication is confusing and causes uncertainty. Lots of space on the ward and staff are very friendly
