Very poor - hours on a trolley
Accident and emergency services
October 7, 2016
my 101 year old mother has been taken to A&E twice this year in an ambulance. Both times she had to wait hours on a trolley. This was bad because both times she witnessed verbal abuse/bad attitude towards staff from rude/drunk people (which we know shouldn't happen) and this upset her on top of her illness.
Difficult to arrange to accompany mum
Gynaecology

My mothers mobility has deteriorated significantly over the last 6-8 months. She has Gynae appointments at Ipswich Hospital and whilst I am quite happy to take her it is very difficult as I run my own clinics in a different hospital and it takes 8 weeks for me to arrange a day off.
Still waiting!
Cardiology

I had a triple bypass operation at Papworth in June. I was discharged back to the care of Ipswich Hospital for monitoring and rehab. and I am still waiting. I have been told it is unlikely I will be seen before Christmas
Operation cancelled on the day

To much to do not enough time so I was cancelled after 3 and a half hours waiting.

Delayed referral

Renal depts. and ENT.
I've been referred to hospital but it has taken much longer than the time I was told. Because my x-rays were clear there didn't seem to be any urgency. The consultant in ENT has said that I should have an appointment but when you ask reception they just say nothing is available and aren't happy to try to help sort issues out. The consultant has been absolutely great as have the nurses

Great staff

We use public transport to go to the hospital and the clinic has been great at giving us appointments that fit with the buses. Staff have been really great but waits can be anything from 0.5 to 1.5 hours.
Food is terrible
Outpatients

Difficult to know what causes food to be so bad, maybe because not enough budget for good quality ingredients.
Communication between departments is bad
stradbrook ward

Husband went in for a perforated bowel. On warfarin. I couldn't take him off that in time to go in for the operation as was an emergency. During surgery they caught his spleen and caused major bleed and so they had to remove it. Now permanently on antibiotics.
Nursing team amazing.
Communication between departments is shocking. In April 2016 he was in for urine retention and they did heart scan. Took 2 weeks to get results. In the meantime we saw doctor - doctor didn't know it had been done
