Care was amazing

Accident and emergency services
September 22, 2016
Rushed into hospital (A&E) had lots of tests and doctor sent me home saying nothing wrong with me. Next day my GP rang to tell me an ambulance was taking me back. They had discovered I had a bacterial infection in my lungs, bladder and bowel. In for 5 weeks. My care on each ward was amazing. I recall being on dementia ward first then moved many times, but they looked after me well.
Some dispensers in disabled toilets are up too high for wheelchair users.

Need a better way of reassuring patients

Dermatology
September 22, 2016
I was kept waiting an hour for a consultation appointment. My mastoid operation was explained but I was told I was not able to have a general anaesthetic due to my other health problems. I was asked if I had any questions. I said that there was only one and that was if I could have some sort of sedation as I am a very nervous problem. I was told NO and that a letter would be written to my GP to say I had refused surgery (which I haven't). I was asked certain questions about my medication which was all in my records. This has since made me lose all confidence with the operation and I would like to see a better way of reassuring patients that are nervous.

Ward meals are good; however water is not generally monitored. 11 - 8 visiting time - which is great

Information was clear

September 6, 2016
Just been referred and was given the option of Colchester or Ipswich. I went with Ipswich which had a 10 week wait rather than a 28 week wait at Colchester, Information sent regarding the appointment was all very clear. Used the computer to login which was straightforward.

Advertise when the last deep clean was carried out

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

You need to be prepared to wait but it's good they keep you informed of delays.
The department does look a little tired but if funds aren't available I'd rather treatment was prioritised. Possibly advertise when the last deep clean was carried out to give patients peace of mind.

Many thanks for your feedback, we do have a rolling program of refurbishment and if you could let me know which area you were in I can pass this on to the Facilities Team along with your suggestion regarding the last deep clean date. We try to keep patients informed of any delays and it is good to hear that this has had positive impact on your experience with us.
