Poor plan for care after being discharged

October 19, 2016
Ipswich Hospital discharged my dad last week, they knew he needed a piece of equipment to get out of bed at home and that he has hardly had any food in the past 5 weeks. The equipment never arrived so we have had to go out and buy it, and a dietician has offered an appointment for two weeks time, meanwhile he continues to barely eat anything.

Well cared for by Physio and Orthopaedics

Orthopaedics

I'm being well cared for by Physiotherapy team, they responded quickly to give regular treatment, and by the Orthopaedics team, having assessed me they kept me well informed regarding my upcoming operation.

Poor

Rheumatology
October 17, 2016
I,ve been with rheumotology for years but started having problems with my knee after being told I needed to see a surgeon. There were many delays and this never happened. I then saw another doctor who said I had to go to physio before being referred on. This could have been done 6 months before. All this time I've become more immobile, put weight on and been in pain. When I saw the physios they then said I needed to lose wight before an operation - if I'd been seen 6 months ago I would have been eligible! I was also never offered an injection, which I've just had.
The management of my case has not been good + treatment + process explanation has been poor

The new cancer unit at the hospital is very good. Have had a blood test as a walk in patient and all went very smoothly, very efficient. I was treated as a person and not just as an elderly individual

Care and nursing excellent. Lots of information given and very supportive. Had one small issue with attending an appointment when we didn't need to but other than that staff have been excellent.
