Staff are very friendly and will help you find your way around the department. Normally seen quite quickly..
Explanations from doctors are good and we get all the information we need. Maybe some books or wifi for older children

we had to wait 7 weeks for the referral to the department. A small administrative error, name spelling, meant that our son had to visit the department and have tests again.

A nice friendly department and staff don't mind the children wandering around and playing with the toys. The staff are so great and make often unpleasant visits as good as they can be

ON the whole there are not long waits for appts. For some referrals it has taken time & we are still waiting for one to come through for speech therapy.

Everyone is so friendly. They explain everything very well so that you fully know what is happening. Staff also listen to what you tell them and take it in to consideration. More activities for older children would be good as most toys are for pre-school age children

The department uses a board to let patients know if doctors are running behind which enables you to plan.
Staff do explain everything as well.

Dementia patients unsuitable appointment time
Mental Health
June 30, 2016
My partner has dementia and is in a care home some distance from Ipswich. The people who send out appointments have absolutely no understanding of the problems associated with dementia. An appointment as late as 14:30 hrs. is totally unsuited for a person in the more advanced stages of dementia. Allowing for the clinic running late (I have no criticism of the clinic, which is excellent) and the travel time to a care home 17 miles outside Ipswich meant the patient was well into their personal "sundown time". This caused considerable problems for the care home on return and mental stress for me. As soon as I received the appointment I tried to get it changed, they couldn't care less.
It is a classic case of administration neither knowing or caring about the clinical effect of their actions have on patients. I'm absolutely dreading the mental stress I am going to undergo when I try to sort this problem out.
My one star rating is based purely on the service provided by Ipswich hospital bureaucracy and not the clinic which is excellent (5 star).
