Flawed discharge
unknown

Following discharge from hospital the care provided was not enough to meet my dads needs. He fell a number of times and was then readmitted. If a full and proper assessment had been completed at the start this could've be prevented.
Staff have been brilliant

My dad has had bladder cancer and all the staff have been brilliant. Very caring, any time he has a worry he can call.

The staff were able to arrange for the dental department to look at my son's teeth (could not do any treatment as no dental equipment in eye department) while he was under anaesthetic having his eye examined. This means only one visit to hospital and one anaesthetic. Dental treatment was not needed at present..
My son has learning disabilities as well as other problems and the hearing disability nurse was involved in the arrangements. This is the second time these arrangements have been able to be arranged (3 years ago) and we appreciate very much the extra care for our son and ourselves

When mum was dying the staff were incredible, very caring and respectful of our grieving. The consultant and nursing staff were so great keeping us well informed.
Very good experience.

My five year old son suddenly had great difficulty in breathing. I phoned my friend, she phoned for an ambulance which came immediately. When the ambulance came I phoned my friend who translated for me over the phone. In hospital I used my friend and my son to translate. This worked well. I stayed with my son in hospital for 2 days and one night.
Good experience in hospital. Son was very excited when given a Christmas present.

My son had his eyes operated on last year. The aftercare and pre-op care was brilliant-we always saw same registrar, great continuity. Staffing was good. He used to be under the Allergy Clinic and the consultant from there came to the eye clinic on our first appointment to tell them my son had been in his clinic before and that he was a lovely lad. It made me feel like they really cared about my son and us. Arthur has been treated in 3 clinics at Ipswich and we have always had good experiences. .
Poor experience with a few departments

Getting in touch with e rapid assessment unit is always difficult, the phone rings and rings and you have to leave a message. I have a complicated condition and they said even though I'd been referred there I should go to another department. When I went there they told me I then needed to go back to the rapid assessment unit.
When dealing with the departments I have a general feeling of being fobbed off by consultants and because of my complicated conditions it seems none of the departments want to take responsibility for me.
In June last year I attended an appointment in ENT but they had no notes on me and it was only when I mentioned I had previously had epilepsy that he put everything down to that, with no further investigation.
