I am paying privately

Ophthalmology
September 26, 2018
My optician referred me to the hospital clinic. I was told I would get a letter in five or six months but that didn't happen. I am now paying privately for this.

Treatment at the Heart centre

Cardiology
September 25, 2018
Referred to the hospital Cardiology Dept for a pacemaker by GP Federation (Woodbridge Clinic) mid June
Attended the Pacemaker clinic for pre-operation early July and they explained what pacemaker fitting entails.
The Pacemaker was fitted in the hospital mid July.
The rating refers to treatment on the day at the centre when the pacemaker was fitted. It was then checked 3 days later (personal worries, all was ok).
Checked again in August (the 6 week check). I then had final check by GP Fed in September in Woodbridge

Can't fault them

Diabetic Medicine

They keep me informed-brilliant. I can't fault them. Sometimes the doctor is called away (to a medical emergency) but there is always a sign put up to keep you informed if you are waiting. Food isn't amazing but it will do!

Not treated holistically

I felt that they didn’t have enough knowledge of all my conditions. Therefore I wasn’t treated holistically.

Looked after me

Maternity
September 17, 2018
The team initially sent me home and I was told not to come in until 24 hours after my waters have broken. They broke and we waited at home as instructed, however my contractions became very strong and so we went in. Thankfully 12 hours later the baby arrived in a natural birth, however was whisked away to special care as there were signs of meningitis. It turned out to be an infection that I was told was caused by not coming in quick enough after the waters broke. Everything has ended up ok and they did look after us really well. I just felt that there is mixed opinions about what you should do, and it should not be like that.

Could have been much better

Maternity
September 17, 2018
We feel this service could have operated much better for us. I was induced and by the evening I was 4 cm's, but went to 10 cm's really quickly and then they said the baby was breach so I would need a 'C Section'. At this point I was told not to push, which frankly was impossible. It took 30 minutes to get me to theatre, which in their words 'isn't that long', however at 10 cm's trying not to push, it felt an eternity. Once I was there giving me an epidural was very difficult and it did not take properly so they had to give me an anesthetic. During the experience a midwife had tried to attach a pad to the head of the baby to monitor it. She put in on the babies bottom and didn't at that point say that the baby was breach. Other staff members realised what she was doing and she was rather chastised in front of me, which also caused anxiety in an already highly anxious situation.

The hospital has been very good. Everything has gone well, its very well run. You normally see the same consultant all the time. The Liaison with the community services has been very good and having the regular scans goes smoothly too
