This department has helped me immensely since my MS diagnosis. The referral from my GP did not take long to get through, and I was seen quickly. Staff are lovely.

There is an excellent team there who look after me well since my MS diagnosis some time ago. My regular check ups are thorough and they talk to me clearly in a language I can understand, and facts I can retain.
Good support throughout
Maternity

I was well looked after during my stay in the hospital. I had no real plan, just to go natural, which I managed.
My milk unfortunately never came in, which I was sad about, but it happened with my first baby too.

I went to the fracture clinic and we turned up 30 minutes early, as requested, but I am not sure why this is asked when they ran 1 hour over my appointment time. They re-looked at x-ray's that had been done the day before and said they are not 100% sure if it is fractured. They took my arm out the temporary cast. I showed them how I cannot straighten my arm and the lumps around my elbow. I explained again how I fell and they decided that another x-ray would need to be done before they can be more sure. So I was sent home with a silly wrist holder that goes around my neck, no elbow protection at all, no pain killers and no sick note for my work. I had to go the whole weekend, and managed to get appointment at my GP practice today to get some painkillers. I return to the clinic later today to see what they do next. Just not happy with the time it is taking as I am worried that things could fuse back in the wrong place. Staff were kind except the main person I had to talk to (consultant?)
Pulled about whilst in pain
Accident and emergency services
September 12, 2018
Waiting time in A & E was as expected as they had a screen displaying 3 1/2 hours, although it ended up being 4 hours. The triage nurse was good but beyond that it was poor. They pulled my arm about before x-raying it. I was in agony. When we went to x-ray they said 'there is nothing wrong', so they pulled it about again. I could not straighten my arm and I re-iterated that to them, so they said they would take another look at the x-ray, and then they decided it is probably fractured, so they booked me into the fracture clinic and sent me home with a temporary cast on it. I had fallen 5 ft at work onto a hard floor onto my back, and knocked my head too. They did not even examine my head. This I found rather surprising.
Community midwife-Framfield
Community midwife

My experience with community midwife team was not consistent. I felt I missed out on a great pathway/experience that being pregnant should be. There was real lack of information provided face to face to me. At 34 weeks I was asked if I was taking Iron and I said 'no should I be?' The midwife said that on my notes it said I was really low in Iron. This was the 3rd different midwife I had seen at the surgery. I took the Iron in high levels from this point onward, but it mean't I was switched to being consultant led. They also told me that my blood type is Rhesus Negative. I had no idea what impact this meant for my pregnancy. I asked the midwife to explain it, she just gave me a leaflet and said 'read that'. I just found the whole experience impersonal.
Overnight stay offered
Maternity
September 11, 2018
My partner was offered an overnight stay which helped immensely. The chair unfortunately did not have enough space to be able to recline, so he was sitting up. We just took it in turns to have the bed. Once we were in the recovery ward after I had the baby, it was so much busier and really quite loud. I felt staff could have asked people to kindly calm down a little. It is because there are 6 bays and people are having enthusiastic visitors seeing the new baby. However, it was very very loud. I appreciated the good full explanation I received in helping me breast feed as I had been to no breast feeding workshops, and this was my first baby. They helped me understand how to express too. A few days after we got home, we thought the baby was showing signs of jaundice. I went into the hospital immediately and they were so thorough, and we were seen really quickly. I was reassured that all was well. I felt relieved and not treated as being silly for worrying, which mean't a lot to me. When you are a first time mum you do not know enough and can think some things maybe stupid to check or ask. They never made me feel like that in the hospital at all. My community midwife however was a different story. (left separate comment)
