My consultant was wonderful. Gave me as much time as I needed to talk and was happy to listen and really hear everything I thought and felt. I never once felt rushed or fobbed off as I have with other departments/consultants at the hospital. I also felt like I was finally getting to the bottom of a complex issue and everything was explained to me clearly so I understand whats happening and how I can manage my condition. All care options were covered, nothing was ruled out and a care plan was agreed. I now feel like my care is dealing with the problem and not just treating the symptoms. Left my appointment feeling much more positive and determined. Thank you

A good experience at a very difficult time.

My father who had complex needs, was admitted in Jan 2018. He unfortunately died soon after. However, the care he received from all members of the team appeared very good. My family and I were supported by staff during this difficult time. The Consultant met with us, to explain the prognosis. The ward appeared very clean and well managed. There was an atmosphere of calm and professionalism. Nothing appeared too much trouble. Kirton ward.

Unsafe to go home

Accident and emergency services

I took my relative who is in her 80's into Accident and Emergency with a bleeding leg. We were weighting for 4 hours and I had to leave her there. They said they would take care of her. I rang her the next day and she had been stitched up. She did not leave the hospital until 3am. No one at home and she had no transport. They called a taxi for her. She was glad she had a dog as she was all alone.

Moved a few times

unknown
July 12, 2018
I was 5 hours waiting in Brantham ward then in the middle of the night I was moved. I was then moved a couple of times more. they did an examination, but even though I was feeling unwell, they discharged me. 4 days later I called 111 as I was still really unwell and a doctor came out to see me. 15 minutes later an ambulance came and I was straight back into hospital and straight onto Stradbroke ward, which should have been the ward I was on, on my previous visit. They kept a much closer eye on me, I was on a drip for 3 days. They did lots of blood tests. They were much more thorough with tests and checking I was clear before discharging me. They also changed a lot of my medication. I now only have to have one thing that I used to have 8 tablets for. I feel much better for it.

Discharge issues

Spinal Surgery
July 12, 2018
My stay was excellent but what stuck in mind and why I give 3 stars is the discharge was very slow. I was told in the morning 9 O'clock finally I got out of hospital at 5.30 pm. This apparently was due to lack of staff on the ward.
Food was grim.

We understand the frustration with the length of time that to can take to discharge a patient and we are working to reduce this as much as possible. I am sorry on this occasion you had to wait so long and that you found the food unappetising. Many thanks

Brilliant but long wait

The service once accessed was excellent treatment wise. Could be better communication around waiting times, as I waited a fairly long time and just did not know how long it would be.
