Poor communication on their part
June 4, 2018
Patient was transferred to our care home as new admission. We agreed to placement team about accepting him but no communication from hospital end. They sent the resident on an ambulance in the afternoon. Communication could be much better since one month from hospital.
Pushed around departments
Dermatology
May 30, 2018
I visited the Ipswich Hospital dermatology department and while the treatment and care was fine this is the third appointment with another different department and no one really listens or takes responsibility. Everyone is treating the symptoms and not trying to find the cause.
Disappointing arrangements weren't in place
Claydon ward
May 23, 2018
The majority of contact with the hospital has been good but we had difficulties on the day of the operation. Everything prior to this had been excellent and plans had been drawn up as the patient has a learning disability. The plans arrange were in place to manage and minimise anxiety and therefore challenging behaviour. On arrival it became clear that the plans had not been put in to place as discussed. Staff didn't spend time getting to know the patient or trying to gain trust. It appeared that staff had limited training and were uncomfortable. Pathology were called to have the situation explained but staff were not aware on arrival and they tried taking blood as normal which scared the patient. Staff on the ward weren’t patient enough and didn’t give time so anxious and challenging behaviour started to be displayed. Theatre staff where they were very good, allowing the support worker to stay until the patient was anaesthetised.
The care in outpatients has been very good just a shame plans weren't in place as discussed.

Critical care unit

My son was admitted to critical care unit, where the staff truly are ANGELS, nothing was to much trouble and we are a large family, but their compassion and care until his final breath never faltered, my most grateful thanks to you all.

I was taken to Ipswich Hospital by ambulance and the care was great. I couldn't fault the treatment provided and the staff were excellent.
Amazing staff

I went to the hospital for investigations. I was there all day and the staff were so wonderful. I was given sandwiches for lunch and the staff, at all times, were amazing.
Well listened to by staff
May 11, 2018
I've been having regular physio, staff have been good and I'm listened to but there has been little continuity with staff. Generally communication is good and I like the prompting phone messages that are left. This time I did get two appointment letters. The food wasn't too bad but I didn't feel like eating much.
Parking is difficult

Its noticeably clean and staff are nice and efficient. The parking is difficult, longer stays get quite expensive.
communication could be improved
May 11, 2018
Quite delayed at appointments and very noticeable that staff are stretched. My referral for orthopedics was quicker as I was offered a cancellation appointment. In other departments there have been longer waiting times. At times communication could be improved to ensure better understanding. The food wasn't bad and there was good choice.
