Referral on took a long time

Accident and emergency services
April 11, 2018
Visited A&E May last year with a broken and dislocated finger, it took 8 weeks to do an initial referral to a surgeon. In the interim I then visited A&E due to the problems. At times they considered putting me through as a trauma case but didn't and a year later I've just had the final operation and hope it will be successful. The staff in A&E were brilliant but the telephone fracture clinic referral line didn't work at all.

Great Learning Disability nurse

When supporting a client with a learning disability we've had a great experience of the learning disability nurse at the hospital. He has been incredibly patient and provided great support for out client.

Rude to carer and left patient uncomfortable

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
April 5, 2018
Resident had an outpatient appointment at Ipswich Hospital. When entering the consultant's room carer handed DNAR, marcharts, and hospital letter. She was rude and came across that the consultant could not be bothered. she asked where her family were. Carer informed her they were working and unable to attend and this is why she went. The consultant asked for next of kin name, so carer had to phone King George care home for her number. She examined her mouth and said two teeth need to be taken out as these were the cause of the ulcers. She then told the carer she would not remove these today as no family were there to explain process before she could do this. Got to go back at a later date. Resident not eating or drinking due to ulcers and very uncomfortable when carer informed her of this.

Seeing different midwives constantly

Maternity
April 3, 2018
Have used the central phone line for the midwives which has worked well. Haven't had any continuity with midwives. I have seen someone different on each occasion which means you have to repeat things regularly. Everything went well when having the baby too.

Community midwives were great, I saw one midwife for all but one of my appointments was with the same midwife. I had a really good experience throughout.

Lack of information and communication

March 23, 2018
Up till now its been excellent. There has been a lack of information about being seen by the outreach diabetic clinic. It hasn't been clear that we were seeing an Ipswich Hospital service. More information for patients would be helpful. Although a blood test request was not sent, the clinic at Stow Health was unable to do the test like they would've done at Ipswich Hospital, as they don't have the facilities. Without the blood test it makes the appointment a bit of a waste.

Felt rushed through and brushed off

Accident and emergency services

Visited A&E and was seen very quickly but felt rushed through and don't feel they gave me enough information and felt brushed off. I've now had to visit my GP as feel they may have missed something as no Xray was done.
