North East Essex and Suffolk Pathology Services (NEESPS)

North East Essex and Suffolk Pathology Services (NEESPS) is a partnership of Ipswich, Colchester and West Suffolk hospitals. Colchester Hospital University NHS Foundation Trust is the host of the service and employs all staff who work in the partnership. Our main hub laboratory is at Ipswich Hospital while Colchester Hospital and West Suffolk Hospital have locally run laboratories that continue to provide on-site pathology services for the needs of their own patients.

All works well and test results are quick

I tend to book appointments in advance using the computer at the healthcentre, which works well. I am seen quickly at appointments, all works well and test results are quick.

Preferred the old system

Generally ok service, did prefer the take a ticket system previously in use. I don't understand why you have to call Bury for an appointment in Sudbury.

Walk-in appointment could be improved

Normally use the walk-in as online appointments are often 1 - 2 week ahead. So, for urgent appointments it doesn't work. If you know when it's quiet. I've been in the afternoon before and even though there are very few people waiting you still have to wait till your time or you have to come back the next day when I've been close to 3:30 pm. Leaflet needs updating to as it implies blood can be taken up till 4pm when this isn't the case.

Wonderful staff but long wait for appointment

Have had occasions where you get here for a walk-in but there are no appointments available. I've been told it will be a long wait, which isn't ideal. Staff though are wonderful.

Quick turnaround

Turnaround is quite quick however I was here towards lunch time and all of a sudden no patients were being called. It was because all staff had gone to lunch even though people were waiting. Booking online still means you can't get an appointment sooner than 2 weeks most of the time.

Excellent staff, slow computer

Staff are friendly and efficient, good at their jobs. The computer is very slow, frustrating and not very logical. You always have to go back to find the older date of births. There can be quite long waits but you never know what to do for the best with the system. It is unclear how long you will need to wait.

Quite easy to book in and get appointments. The computer works well and isn't too bad to use.

No problem getting appointments

Never had any problems getting appointments. Online system doesn't allow you to book sooner appointments, but if you walk in, you can always get an appointment and are generally seen before your time.

Computer can be a bit slow and difficult to use especially for older people. All are very friendly. It's a good service and works smoothly and quickly.
