West Suffolk Hospital

Over many years my family and I have always been very pleased with the care we have had at West Suffolk Hospital but I have been disappointed with the dental surgery unit (or maxillo facial unit) over the last four months. It took seven weeks and many phone calls to both Ipswich Hospital and West Suffolk to ascertain my biopsy result. It appears there is only one outpatient clinic a week and when I was given an appointment to attend this after an emergency admission to A&E I saw Dr.(Name removed). It was an upsetting consultation as neither of us could understand the other, they didn't appear to have my notes or records, didn't know what operation I'd had or when it had been carried out, didn't bother to look at my still open wound from six weeks previously. It appears to be difficult to get through to anyone who can help, I have been given a number to ring when infections start and have tried to phone six times today and left three messages to no avail.

I always find the staff to be very efficient and helpful

Ambulance and A & E service very good

Parking bad, someone mentioned that they had heard that they were soon to expand the car park, which may help.

My son had a broken ankle and suffered heart palpitations and had to be put on oxygen. A & E and ambulance were very good. They accepted him even though he was not local to Suffolk

All staff were excellent, treatment and care was very good

Staff at the hospital were extremely supportive when my husband was admitted. They kept the family informed at all times during a very difficult time. They were brilliant.

The service was phenomenal. I can't fault them at all. I stayed on F1 for four days and all staff were absolutely brilliant. The food was really not good, very bland which didn't encourage you to eat. Explanation from the consultant was very good. On discharge I was released by consultant but it took a couple of hours before I could go.

Generally the hospital has been very good at treating me. Parking is expensive.

Very caring staff. The consultant has explained everything about my operation and I'm completely happy.
