Lucky to have the surgery

Ring up and get appointments and get call backs when they say they'll happen. The reception team are lovely, so helpful and will book and combine appointments. We know that we can get appointments when needed. Having a new health centre would be an advantage it must be hard in this old building.

It can take a while to get through to the surgery but when you do the appointments are available but if you request to see a female GP I've often been told the appointments are fully booked. When I raised an issue with one doctor they were very different in their approach compared to discussing it with a female doctor I got a very different response, they took my concerns seriously and investigated further.
Great staff

It's been fine, even when the phones are busy I've got appointments and the staff are always great. Mainly I get to see the GPs but I do see other members of the team and it doesn't matter at all as they are all great. The only thing that could be improved is the parking but theres not a lot that can be done on that front.

If you have to call at 8am it is more difficult as I have to work around shift patterns. Econsult works for quick questions but not so much for on the day appointments as you just get a message back saying call the surgery to arrange an appointment so you might as well just call. I did have a doctor dismiss and downplayed my knowledge and experience with my condition, telling me they would decide what the issue was, it was the way that it was said that wasn't great. I do also find more generally that once you are given a label doctors then stop looking any further.
A good surgery

I find the staff to be polite and respectful. The medical staff are thorough when I have had test done for various things. The call back phone system works well, the GP will always call me back within about 2 hours.
Difficult

Appointments have been difficult at times and the phones are very busy which means long waits on the phones to get through and then I have been told there are no appointments available.
Challenging

I tried to get an appointment for a family member on Friday but there were no appointments offered then on Sunday had to call 111 who arranged an ambulance. If they had started antibiotics on Friday they wouldn't have deteriorated and needed to go to hospital.
Staff listen

Staff are very good and listen when calling in the morning to try and get an appointment. They have then arranged for a GP to call me to discuss the issues which works well especially because I get frequent chest infections and and often need antibiotics. For me it all works well.
Don't like telling reception

I was 49th in the queue on the phone and in the past I've not been able to get appointments and I've not been offered alternative support, however, more recently I did get a face to face appointment even when I was 49th in the queue which is better. I really don't like having to tell the receptionist why I need an appointment and would prefer to just say I need one.

It's quite easy to get appointments and the staff are good when you do see them. The phones of course are busy and it can take time to get through but staff are friendly and helpful.
