Good care throughout
Eye Clinic

I think the staff I have seen are very nice and I have received good care throughout my still ongoing treatment. I see them again in October.
Good ongoing care but explanations could be clearer

I had a follow up appointment in the stroke clinic and have had good ongoing care. I just found they could have explained things a bit more simply for us. You do feel a bit silly asking that at the time.
Ended up getting private physio as service was not good enough
Physiotherapy
October 18, 2017
The help I needed for a torn shoulder muscle was not very good at the hospital physiotherapy. I had to go private, which has been excellent. The exercises have helped me make continued improvement over two years. The difference was that the NHS just gave me exercises to take away but did not show me the correct positioning, which is of course important. Just found them very 'hand off' and unhelpful
Very poor. Painful examination and long wait
Ravenswood ward/oncology

I was prepared and waited alone without a comfy chair, no dressing gown, no magazines for hours. Having had no food or drink the previous day and all night. This was 7 am. 3 hours later I was told the doctor hadn't arrived, would I like to go home? I said no. I had to arrange for transport, someone to look after me etc. Eventually a foreign man came; he didn't even say hello. He hurt me. I think he thought he was sweeping a chimney.. I had two colonoscopies before. It was horrible He was a trainee
Good but discharged too early. Food was awful
Paediatrics/children services

My son had his appendix out as an emergency and was then re-admitted with sepsis. His care was fantastic but he was let out too early in the first instance, which meant he developed sepsis, was readmitted and had to stay for a week. The food offered in that time was terrible. We had to take our own food in as they were out of pasta for a week!
Poor
Washbrook ward

Resident was assessed by colleague who was told that as consultant was happy with food and fluid intake
she could return to the home. On arrival and for the past couple of days resident has not been taking any food, fluid or medication as unable to swallow. Next of kin informed that the resident had been on a drip and being tube fed the day before the assessment. Resident is now end of life as unable to swallow

Accident and emergency services

My mum was admitted to Ipswich hospital due to her difficulty in breathing and high blood sugar. Once in A & E she was given a blood test, chest x-ray and 3 nebulisers. After the last nebuliser she was told she could go home but had no explanation of what the x-ray showed. When nurse was asked, she couldn't understand what was being said and just smiled and told my mum to go home. Mum was expected to get off the hospital bed with the sides up and bed bed pumped up high.
