Missed collapsed lung
Cardiology
March 16, 2016
I was hospitalised last year with on going issues but during my stay the x-rays did not pick up the fact that I had a collapsed lung. It was only later with a CT scan that it was identified. When I next saw the consultant they said that the new x-ray had shown improvement, but if they never saw it in the first x-ray how did this one show the improvement when it should've still been hidden by my heart.
Have to wait for follow up information

After seeing the consultants you're left hanging on and waiting for follow up information but the care and support has not been bad.
Unless you chase you don't get action

Unless you chase the cardiac team you don't get action. Recently I called the consultant and had my scan moved forward which wouldn't have happened if I hadn't have called as the letter I received did not cover the issue in the same way as when I had spoken to them and suggested it was less urgent. After seeing the consultant you'r left waiting for information but the care provided has been ok.

The treatment in the early hours of the morning was great. The first time the paramedic took us in the car on the second occasion we went by ambulance. All great.

This month I saw my consultant as a routine review. I was supposed to see my consultant in November 2015 but I was told I was on the waiting list. I had had rectal cancer in 2014 with a stoma reversal in April 2015. I have had problems ever since but none of these have been addressed properly in my opinion despite two meetings with specialist nurses. Having seen the surgeon I was diagnosed with severe constipation. I had been in a lot of pain. They told me they would see me in two weeks. A week after my visit I rang their secretary as I hadn't received a letter. They said they did not organise appointments and put me through to outpatient appointments. They said they could not fit me in for a number of weeks. I had to ring back on following Tuesday when next block of appointments came through. I said that surgeon wanted to see me. By then I was very upset. The person on the phone told me that they are not allowed to 'squeeze' me in. I burst into tears. I was put through to PALS, who read the letter to the GP and confirmed that review was due in 2 weeks. They rang back having made an appointment with the secretary for a date shortly after the 2 week review date. I understand the effect the cutbacks are having but this is unacceptable.
Long wait but out of their control.

Referred by GP for spinal X-ray. Went the same day. You just sit and wait. I waited a long time - not much information was given. Appreciate that inpatients at the hospital take priority. I was there 1.5 hours.
Very concerned now. On long list.

Original referral was very good and thorough.
My sister regularly attends the Eye Clinic. She has been waiting for further appointment since August.I tried to contact them recently but when i got through the receptionist said they have no-one to do Glaucoma Clinics @ the moment. Receptionist suggested the patient (my sister) contact PALS. My sister actually returned to her optician who told her to keep on with prescribed drops as her level is in a good range so okay.
I think there's a mobile glaucoma clinic but not sure how you get a referral to this.
