Day Surgery

Saxmundham for a few hours after day surgery
November 10, 2015
The care I received was excellent - the hospital staff including the cleaning team were excellent - the food was was excellent. The aftercare was excellent. We in Suffolk should be proud of our hospital. You all deserve a great big pat on the back.

Day surgery - good experience

Raedwald Day Unit

I had dental surgery in the day clinic. I was waiting quite a while for my surgery and the room was very cold. The staff in theatre were wonderful though, very reassuring and calmed me down. The recovery team were equally lovely and I was quickly feeling well and able to go home.

Poor continuity of care

Raedwald Day Unit

Following dental surgery in the day clinic I got a dry socket infection and had to go back to the outpatients department later on that week. I was given antibiotics. I had an allergic reaction to the antibiotics, my head started to swell. I visited my GP who gave me steroids and antihistamines but wouldn't talk to me about the antibiotics. I had to go back to the hospital to resolve that issue. I felt like I was going backwards and forwards.

poor experience in gynae dept.

Hysterectomy as a result of a intautrine coil being fitted and then removed incorrectly by Mr. (Name Removed) in 2010. I made a complaint to the then CEO of Ipswich Hospital. I said that I wanted my poor experience help to improve things. I had no feedback concerning this. When I requested my notes, was told it would take 30 - 40 days. This is unacceptable when you feel unwell and are aware that what took place was not done well.

My son had to go into the hospital to have surgery on one of his testicles. We were welcomed by a nurse and shown the room we would be based in. There were plenty of children's toys/books and other parts of the room for him to explore. We as parents were kept well informed during our stay and the nurses were all very caring towards my son. The overall experience was very good and more importantly my son was happy and comfortable throughout our time there

Not great at a sensitive time

I had a miscarriage as the result of a totally unplanned pregnancy when I was 20 years old. I was treated like a number - not to mention with a clear lack of respect & sympathy. I feel this was due to my age.
A friend of 30, married and tring for a baby, recently had a much better experience. Hope things have improved for younger people in my position

They plan a timescale. I had to have an operation on right ear.
They should give me more information about the operation and the outcome

Went to hospital afternoon of sunday with back pain after a motorbike crash. Doctor felt back and said it was fine & go home. 4 months later had an independent xray which said I had a crushed vertebrae. Could have been fixed but now too late and further problems now occurring.

I was told by my doctor to have an x ray of my knee, so I called the number I was given for Ipswich hospital but the person on the phone said I couldn't be seen there and needed to go to Felixstowe which is much further away for me. When I was seen they asked why I had gone to Felixstowe and said I could've been x rayed at Ipswich. I can't fault the staff at Felixstowe just disappointing I had to drive much further for the appointment.
